The British Residence, Phnom Penh, Cambodia – 5 November 2026 BritCham Cambodia and the British Embassy Phnom Penh have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen their strategic partnership and enhance support for British businesses, trade, investment and bilateral engagement in Cambodia. The MOU was signed at the British Residence in Phnom Penh on 5 November 2026, formalising the two organisations’ longstanding relationship and establishing a framework for closer cooperation in support of the UK–Cambodia commercial relationship. The agreement sets out shared priorities, including supporting British businesses operating in Cambodia, promoting a fair and rules-based trading environment, developing new market opportunities for UK companies, and strengthening trade and investment ties between the two countries. A key feature of the agreement is a commitment to more structured engagement between the Embassy and BritCham, including regular coordination meetings and quarterly strategic roundtables at the British Residence involving Embassy representatives, BritCham’s Board of Directors and its Strategic Partners. The MOU also provides a framework for collaboration on BritCham’s flagship events celebrating British heritage, culture and business excellence; closer engagement on education and business policy; and continued cooperation through the annual UK–Cambodia Joint Trade and Investment Forum (JTIF). The agreement further recognises the importance of promoting British expertise, innovation and values while strengthening the visibility and reputation of UK businesses in Cambodia. His Excellency, Dominic Williams, British Ambassador to Cambodia and Patron of BritCham Cambodia said: “BritCham are a key partner for our work to grow the trade and investment relationship between the UK and Cambodia. Our relationship has blossomed in recent years, and we want it to continue to flower far into the future. The MoU we have signed today institutionalises some of our closer working practices, making them enduring and ensuring that our relationship depends on deep shared interests, rather than individuals or personalities. I am delighted that this MoU means that, when I finish my role in 2027, I will hand over to my successor a close and successful partnership that they can take to even greater heights.” Paul Dodd, Chair of BritCham Cambodia said: "This memorandum marks an important milestone in the relationship between BritCham Cambodia and the British Embassy. It reflects our shared commitment to strengthening UK Cambodia trade and investment ties, while ensuring that British businesses have a strong, influential voice in Cambodia. On behalf of the Board, I welcome this closer strategic partnership and the tangible benefits it will bring to our members, partners and the wider business community." Martin Darby, Executive Director of BritCham Cambodia, said: “This MOU provides an important foundation for taking our longstanding relationship with the British Embassy to the next level. By strengthening communication, coordination and collaboration, we can better support our members, identify new commercial opportunities and contribute to the continued development of trade and investment between the United Kingdom and Cambodia”. “Our shared ambition is to ensure that British businesses have a strong voice, access to meaningful engagement and the support they need to identify and pursue opportunities in Cambodia.” The MOU reflects the shared commitment of both organisations to a stronger, more coordinated approach to business engagement and advocacy. It will take effect upon signature and remain in place for an initial three-year period, with provision for annual reviews. The signing also comes as BritCham Cambodia continues to develop its membership and business engagement activities, bringing together British, Cambodian and international companies across sectors including education, professional services, finance, hospitality, technology and consumer goods. Through this strengthened partnership, BritCham Cambodia and the British Embassy aim to help create new opportunities for businesses, deepen commercial links and reinforce the UK’s role as a valued trade and investment partner for Cambodia.
